Instagram hashtags can significantly enhance your Juicer feed. Here's how to use them effectively, understand their limits, and troubleshoot common issues.

⚠️ Important – If you do not have an Instagram Business account, you must create one first (or switch a personal Instagram account to a business one), and connect it to a Facebook business page. Please view our tutorial for that process here or follow the steps below.

  1. Create an Instagram Business account if you don't have one already. You can also switch a personal Instagram account to a business one.
  2. Connect your Instagram Business account to a Facebook business page.
  3. Connect your personal Facebook account to Juicer.
    • This is necessary because every Instagram Business account is linked to a corresponding Facebook business page, which you manage via your personal Facebook account.

  1. Open your Juicer dashboard and access the feed to which you want to add the source
  2. Click "+ Add New Source"
  3. Select Instagram, then "Hashtag"
  4. Enter your hashtag (without #) and click "Add Source"

⚠️ Requirements:

  • Instagram Business account connected to Juicer
    • This is a requirement imposed by Instagram and its parent company
    • Every Instagram Business account is linked to a Facebook business page, which you manage through your personal Facebook account. To add Instagram hashtag sources to Juicer, you’ll connect your personal Facebook account.
    • If you don't have a Facebook account connected, Juicer will prompt you to do that…

  • Only public posts with desired hashtags will appear

☀️ It may seem a bit complex, but this is how Facebook and Instagram ensure services like ours can verify your permissions.

Besides following the "Connect via Facebook and Add Source" button shown in the image above to connect your Facebook account, you can also click the red + button on the https://juicer.io/social-accounts page. Follow prompts from Facebook to allow Jiuicer to access your account. Ultimately, if successfully connected, your linked Facebook account will be shown on the “Connected  Account” page:

If you already have a Facebook connection on this page, click the 🔁 refresh icon. Once you do this, the area shown above will tell you whether you have the necessary Instagram for Business permissions.

Limitations

  • Usernames and profile images of hashtag posts are not displayed (restrictions imposed by Instagram as a privacy protection measure)
  • Only posts from the last 24 hours containing the hashtag are shown
    • No content will appear if there were no posts with that hashtag in the past 24 hours until a new post with your hashtag is posted on Instagram.
More technical details can be found on Facebook/Instagram developer documents here.

Troubleshooting

If your Facebook social connection appears to be OK, yet you cannot add an Instagram hashtag, please go to Facebook and remove Juicer from connected apps. Then come back to Juicer, remove your Facebook social connection, and re-add it. You can follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Facebook.com > Settings > Business integrations,
  2. Click the Remove button to revoke Juicer app permissions.
  3. Back on Juicer on your Connected Accounts page remove the connected Facebook account by clicking the red x next to its name.
  4. Now try connecting the same Facebook account again.
