⚠️ Before proceeding – If you do not have an Instagram Business account, you must create one first (or switch a personal Instagram account to a business one), and connect it to a Facebook business page. Please view our tutorial for that here.

How to add an Instagram hashtag as a source to your feed

To add an Instagram hashtag source to your social feed, you must first connect an Instagram Business account to Juicer. This step is required by Instagram and its parent company, Facebook. Posts from this account will not be displayed in Juicer, it is used only for verification purposes.

💡 Every Instagram Business account is linked to a corresponding Facebook business page, which you manage via your personal Facebook account. Thus, your personal Facebook account is what you will actually connect to Juicer before you can add Instagram hashtag sources.

Confusing? Yes! But this is the way that Facebook and Instagram would like services like ours to verify your permissions.

This connection will ultimately be displayed on the “Your Social Connections” page, located at https://juicer.io/social-accounts, in the area shown here:

Simply click the + icon, and you will be prompted to connect your Facebook account to Juicer. Or, if you already have a Facebook connection on this page, click the 🔁 refresh icon. Once you do this, the area shown above will tell you whether you have the necessary Instagram for Business permissions.

If you do not have it, please revisit our tutorial for creating an Instagram for Business account. If you do, you can move forward with creating an Instagram hashtag source for your social feed.

🌱 Rather than the above method, you can also simply select “Add social media source” from your main Juicer dashboard and choose “Instagram Hashtag”. Juicer will automatically prompt you to establish the needed connection.

Limitations

⚠️ Because of restrictions imposed by Instagram, it's not possible to display the usernames or profile images of posts containing your chosen hashtag. This information is no longer provided to services like Juicer, as a privacy protection measure for Instagram users.

⚠️ Only the posts from the last 24 hours containing the hashtag you're looking for can be displayed when you create a source with an Instagram hashtag. If there were no posts with your hashtag in the past 24 hours, your added Instagram hashtag source will not show any content, until a new post with your hashtag is posted on Instagram.

Also: You can view the Facebook/Instagram developer documents here.

Troubleshooting

If your Facebook social connection appears to be OK, yet you cannot add an Instagram hashtag (as per the screenshot below), please go to Facebook and remove Juicer from connected apps. Then come back to Juicer, remove your Facebook social connection and re-add it.
