Adding or refreshing your Instagram connections: Troubleshooting

If you’re having problems establishing or refreshing your Instagram token connections, these are the steps to follow.

❗Please note before proceeding: After refreshing or adding an Instagram connection, new posts will NOT appear immediately in your Juicer wall. It will take until the next usual re-sync time. For example, this can be every 24 hours on our Free plan or every 60 minutes or less on our paid plans.

To display the posts from a specific Instagram account in Juicer, Instagram requires that you enter the login details for that account. You can do this for as many accounts as you like within Juicer. Adding or refreshing those connections is done on your Connected Social Accounts page.

How often do I need to refresh my connection?

Instagram access tokens expire approximately every 60 days—this is a requirement from Meta (Instagram and Facebook's parent company), not something specific to Juicer.

However, Juicer automatically refreshes your Instagram connection before it expires, so in most cases you won't need to do anything at all. If the automatic refresh fails—for example, because you changed your Instagram password or revoked permissions—we'll email you a reminder 5 days before expiration, giving you time to refresh it manually using the steps below.

To add a new connection

  1. Go to instagram.com and log out of all your Instagram accounts.❗️This is an essential step.

  2. Return to https://www.juicer.io/social-accounts and click the red plus icon.

  3. You will be asked to enter the login details for an Instagram account. Enter the credentials for the account you plan to display in Juicer.

    • ⚠️ If the page refreshes and you are not prompted to enter login details, visit instagram.com and make sure you are logged out of all accounts, then try again. This is to prevent accidental reconnection of a wrong IG account.

  4. The connection will be established. You can now add this Instagram account to the “Social Media Sources” area of your Juicer dashboard. Your successful connections should be listed in the area shown below:

You can follow the above process for as many Instagram accounts as you plan to display in your feed(s).

To refresh an Instagram connection

If you receive an email or in-app notification that your Instagram connection has expired, you can refresh it from your Connected Social Accounts page by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Juicer and go to https://www.juicer.io/social-accounts. Expired Instagram connections will appear in red.

  2. Go to instagram.com and log out of all Instagram accounts. This prevents accidentally refreshing the wrong account.

  3. Return to https://www.juicer.io/social-accounts and click the refresh icon (🔄) next to the expired connection. You’ll be prompted to log in with the correct Instagram account.

  4. If the connection still shows as expired, make sure you’re logged into the correct Instagram account at instagram.com, then try refreshing again.

  5. If it still doesn’t work, follow the steps in “To add a new connection” above.

⚠️ Remember: When you click the refresh 🔄 icon, Juicer will refresh the connection of whatever Instagram account your browser is already logged into. Make sure that your browser is logged into the Instagram account whose connection has expired.

Please Note

Once you have successfully refreshed an Instagram connection, your feed will not be fixed immediately. Your feed will enter a queue for a process to refresh the posts. This can take from a few hours up to a day. If you do not see the posts fixed/updated within 36 hours, please contact Juicer support for assistance.
