"Future Activity" Off Meta setting required to connect Facebook/Instagram accounts

Enable "Future Activity" so Meta can issue and refresh access for approved integrations like Juicer.

Written by Mario T.

When connecting Instagram or Facebook to Juicer, Meta can block the connection if Your activity off Meta technologies is turned off in Accounts Center. The fix is to enable Connect future activity in the same screen — Juicer never sees your personal content, but Meta needs this permission to issue tokens for approved integrations. ⚡️ Jump to the step-by-step fix.

Why this setting is necessary

Meta's Graph API uses your Accounts Center permissions to decide whether third-party apps (like Juicer) can create and maintain an authorized link to your Instagram or Facebook account. If future activity is disabled, Meta refuses to issue new tokens or renewals, which breaks the OAuth connection. Enabling Connect future activity allows Meta to:

  • Issue and refresh access tokens required for secure API access.

  • Recognize authorized interactions between your account and approved apps.

  • Maintain Page/account permissions for business integrations.

This does not grant Juicer access to your personal Facebook content. It only allows the Meta platform to acknowledge and sustain the integration you explicitly approve.

Who is affected

  • Instagram Business or Creator accounts connecting via Accounts Center.

  • Facebook business Pages managed through a personal Facebook profile.

  • Agencies and multi-brand managers reconnecting tokens on a schedule (Meta often expires connections periodically).

Symptoms you may see

  • Instagram source won't connect or reconnect in Juicer.

  • Facebook Page fails to add as a source despite correct Page admin rights.

  • Error during login/connect: "OAuthException: Your account's future activity history off Meta technologies is currently turned off. Please visit account center to change it."

  • Instagram connection appears to reconnect successfully (showing an expiry months away), but expires again within a few days — requiring you to reconnect repeatedly.

How to fix, step-by-step

The account owner with admin/management rights should:

  1. Log in to Facebook or Instagram (the profile linked to the Page/IG account).

  2. Open Accounts Center:

  3. Go to Your information and permissionsYour activity off Meta technologies.

  4. Click Manage future activity.

  5. Turn on Connect future activity and confirm.

  6. Return to Juicer and reconnect the Instagram/Facebook source.

Additional checks if issues persist

  • Confirm the Facebook profile has management/admin permissions for the Page.

  • Remove the "Juicer" app from allowed apps in Facebook, then reconnect in Juicer:

    • Remove app: Facebook Settings → Business Integrations.

    • Reconnect: Juicer → Connected Social Accounts → Facebook/Instagram.

  • Ensure the Facebook Page has no age or country restrictions (Juicer servers are in the U.S.).

  • For Instagram, confirm it's a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page.

  • If you manage multiple Pages/IG accounts, use Edit access during Meta's permission prompt to grant Juicer access to the specific assets.

Privacy and data considerations

  • Enabling Connect future activity allows Meta to register interactions between your account and approved apps so tokens can be issued or renewed.

  • Juicer only accesses Page/Business content you authorize; personal profile content is not ingested or displayed.

  • You can revoke Juicer's access anytime in Accounts Center or Business Integrations.

Hi [first name],

To restore the Instagram/Facebook connection used for your website feed, Meta requires one setting in Accounts Center to be turned on:

  1. Log into your Facebook/Instagram account.

  2. Open Accounts Center and go to Your information and permissionsYour activity off Meta technologies.

  3. Click Manage future activity, then enable Connect future activity.

  4. Let us know once done, and we'll reconnect your feed. If you prefer, we can guide you on a quick call.

This change doesn't expose personal content; it only allows Meta to issue the secure tokens needed for approved integrations like Juicer.

If the OAuth error still appears after enabling Connect future activity and reconnecting, send us the exact error text, the Instagram username or Facebook Page name, and the time of the last attempt through contact us.
