Hashtag sources let your Juicer feed pull recent public Instagram posts that include a specific hashtag. Setting one up requires an Instagram Business account (IBA) connected to a Facebook business page; this article walks through the prerequisites, the steps, the limits, and common troubleshooting.
š Instagram hashtag sources are a premium feature. They're available on Juicer's paid plans, and you can try them free during your trial. See the pricing page to compare plans.
ā ļø Important: If you do not have an Instagram Business account (IBA), you must create one first (or switch a personal Instagram account to a business one) and connect it to a Facebook business page. See How to create an Instagram Business account, or follow the prerequisite steps below.
Create an Instagram Business account if you don't have one already. You can also switch a personal Instagram account to a business one.
Connect your Instagram Business account to a Facebook business page.
Connect your personal Facebook account to Juicer.
This is necessary because every Instagram Business account is linked to a corresponding Facebook business page, which you manage via your personal Facebook account.
Adding your hashtag source
Open your Juicer dashboard and access the feed to which you want to add the source.
Click + Add source.
Select Instagram.
then choose the Hashtag tab
Enter your hashtag without the
#.Pick the Content type: Posts or Reels.
Click Add source.
Connecting Facebook
If you don't have a Facebook account connected to Juicer yet, the hashtag form shows a Connect via Facebook button. Click it and authorize Juicer to access your Pages and Instagram for Business permissions.
You can also pre-connect Facebook from the Social accounts page by clicking the red + button next to Facebook. Either way, your linked account appears on the Social accounts page once authorized:
If you already have a Facebook connection on this page, click the š refresh icon. The connection state will then tell you whether you have the Instagram for Business permissions Juicer needs.
Limitations
Hashtag-source quotaāInstagram allows ~30 hashtag sources per connected Instagram Business account, on a rolling 7-day window. Juicer scales this with the number of IBAs linked to your Facebook page (e.g., a Facebook account with 5 IG Business accounts can carry up to 150 hashtag sources). See How to add more Instagram hashtag sources to your Juicer feed for ways to expand.
Public posts onlyāInstagram only exposes public posts via its hashtag API.
Anonymous postersāusernames and profile images of hashtag posts are not displayed; this is an Instagram privacy restriction. See Why Instagram hashtag posts don't show usernames or profile pictures.
24-hour windowāonly posts from the last 24 hours containing the hashtag are returned. If no one has posted with your hashtag in that window, no content will appear until a new matching post goes live on Instagram.
More technical details are in the Facebook/Instagram developer documentation.
"Add hashtag" is grayed out, or Facebook asks me for an "App ID"
If the Hashtag tab is disabled even though you have an Instagram Business account, or Facebook's Business Portfolio prompts you for an App ID, the connected Facebook account is missing the IG-for-Business permissions Juicer needs. You don't need to create a Facebook App ID.
To fix it:
Remove Juicer from Facebook ā Settings ā Business Integrations.
On Social accounts, click the red
xnext to the connected Facebook account.Reconnect. When Meta's permission screen appears, make sure Read content posted on the Page, Read user content on your Page, and Access to your Instagram Business accounts are checked.
If you manage multiple Pages or IG accounts, click Edit access and confirm the right ones.
Return to the dashboardāthe Hashtag tab should be enabled.
If you only see "Continue as [Name]" without checkboxes, click Cancel and try againāthat abbreviated dialog skips the permissions.
"Waiting for a social account to be connected"
If your hashtag source shows Your Instagram source #yourhashtag is waiting for a social account to be connected, the source has no Facebook connection behind it yet. The message names Instagram, which is what makes it confusing, but the connection it is asking for is a Facebook one.
Being logged in to Instagram in your browser does not clear this, and neither does connecting your Instagram username to Juicer. An Instagram hashtag source is served by Instagram's hashtag API, which Juicer can only reach through Facebook. It needs both of these:
a Facebook account connected to Juicer on your Social accounts page, and
a Facebook Page managed by that account, with an Instagram Business account linked to it.
So the fix is to connect Facebook, not Instagram. Work through the prerequisites at the top of this article, then Connecting Facebook above. Once that connection carries the Instagram for Business permissions, the source picks it up on the next sync.
ā ļø What will not fix it: logging out of Instagram in your browser, logging back in as a different Instagram account, or reconnecting your Instagram username. None of these create the Facebook connection a hashtag source needs.
Troubleshooting
If your Facebook connection looks healthy but you still can't add an Instagram hashtag, revoke Juicer's Facebook permissions and reconnect:
Click Remove next to Juicer to revoke its permissions.
Back on your Social accounts page, remove the connected Facebook account by clicking the red
xnext to its name.Try connecting the same Facebook account again.
