Brand Listening: track what people say about your brand and competitors

How to use Juicer's Brand Listening beta to research brand mentions across Reddit, X, YouTube, TikTok and more, read sentiment and track competitors.

Written by Mario T.

Brand Listening researches what people say about a brand across Reddit, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky and Facebook, keeps only the posts that are genuinely about that brand, and scores each one as positive, neutral or negative. Run it on your own brand to follow your reputation, then run it on your competitors to see how you compare. This article shows where to find it, how to run your first search, how to read the report and how to keep it fresh.

šŸ‘‘ Brand Listening is in beta and comes with every paid plan. On the Free plan you can open Brand Listening in the sidebar and click Request access, and our team can switch it on for your account. See the pricing page to compare plans.

Where to find Brand Listening

Log in to your Juicer dashboard and click Brand Listening in the left sidebar, between Publishing and Pages. It carries a Beta badge while the feature is in beta. The page opens with a single search box, and once you have searched a brand, its report tile appears below the box under Your brand reports.

Run your first brand search

  1. Type your brand name or website into the search box, for example airbnb.com. A website is the most reliable input, because the research starts by reading that site to work out which accounts, subreddits, handles and hashtags belong to the brand. If you paste a full URL, Juicer keeps only the domain.

  2. Click Start listening.

  3. Wait while the research runs. A progress panel shows which step Juicer is on (identifying the brand, scoping each platform, pulling recent posts, reading every post, scoring sentiment) and an elapsed timer. A first run can take up to 5 minutes, and big brands can take a little longer.

  4. You can leave the page. The report keeps building in the background and opens automatically if you stay. Either way it will be waiting under Your brand reports.

Reading the report

Click a brand tile to open its full report. Below the brand name and the report controls, the report reads top to bottom as follows.

Totals, sentiment and platforms

  • Mentions—the number of genuine mentions archived so far and how many platforms they came from, plus the total interactions (likes, comments and shares) those posts received. This is a live sample of the most recent on-brand posts per platform that grows with every check, not an exhaustive count of everything ever posted.

  • Sentiment—a donut showing the share of positive, neutral and negative mentions, with the dominant sentiment in the middle.

  • By platform—how many mentions came from each platform.

Filters

Below the stats, a row of filter pills narrows the mention list.

  • Sentiment—show only positive, neutral or negative mentions.

  • Platform—show only one platform.

  • Source—Community posts are posts by other people about the brand, Brand's own posts are posts published by the brand's own accounts.

  • How we searched—the exact search plan the research used for this brand, one line per platform and query (a subreddit, a keyword, a hashtag or a profile). Check this first if a report looks off. It tells you exactly where Juicer looked.

Click Clear filters to return to the full list.

Mention cards

Each mention is a card showing the platform, the author, how long ago it was posted, the post text, a one-line reason explaining why Juicer counted it as a mention of the brand, and a sentiment tag. A NEW badge marks mentions found in the latest check, a Brand post tag marks posts from the brand's own accounts, and the engagement counts sit next to the tag. Click anywhere on the card or on View source ↗ to open the original post. The list loads more cards as you scroll, or click Load more mentions.

Checking your competitors

A competitor is just another brand, so its report looks exactly like yours. There are two ways to add one.

  • From the competitor strip—while researching your brand, Juicer notes the direct competitors that come up in the same conversations and lists them in the Be aware of your competitors' moves! panel at the top of the report. Click + Track next to a name to start researching that competitor right there. Its report tile appears under Your brand reports next to your own.

  • By hand—go back to Brand Listening and type the competitor's name or website into the search box, the same way you searched your own brand.

Once your brand and your competitors are tracked, the tiles under Your brand reports give you the side-by-side check. Each tile shows the total mentions, how many are new since the last check, the sentiment split and the platforms where the brand is being discussed.

āš ļø Important: Each competitor counts as one brand against the beta limit of 3 brands per account, so pick the two competitors that matter most. To watch a different one later, remove a brand first.

Keeping the report fresh

Every mention Juicer finds is kept in the brand's archive, so the report only ever grows. New checks add mentions, they never replace the ones you already have. At the top of the report, use the Check for new mentions dropdown to choose how often Juicer looks again: Daily, Weekly, Every 14 days or Monthly. The change takes effect immediately, and the tile shows the date of the next check. When you open the report after a check, a N new since last check badge next to the brand name and NEW badges on the cards show what has been added.

🌿 Tip: During the beta every account gets 3 brands, and each brand gets its initial search plus 3 scheduled refreshes. When a brand has used its refreshes, its report stays available with everything found so far, and the tile reads free checks used. A check that fails does not count.

Managing your brands

  • New search—the button at the top of a report takes you back to the search box.

  • Give feedback—open the ⋯ menu next to New search (or click Give feedback on the Brand Listening page) to tell us what is missing, confusing or wrong. During the beta this feedback decides what we build next.

  • Remove brand—also in the ⋯ menu. This stops listening and permanently deletes the brand's archived mentions, so Juicer asks you to confirm first. Removing a brand frees one of your brand slots.

  • Suggest this place—the box at the bottom of every report asks whether we are missing places where people talk about your brand. Name a review site, a forum, a subreddit or a news site and the suggestion goes straight to our team.

Brand Listening or a Mentions source?

They answer different questions. A Mentions source (or a Reddit keyword source) builds a live, embeddable feed of posts that match a term on one platform, so use it when you want to display posts on your website. Brand Listening researches a brand across many platforms, discards posts that only share the name, scores sentiment and keeps a private archive, so use it when you want to know what people think. Brand Listening reports are not embeddable.

Troubleshooting

  • Brand Listening is not in my sidebar
Collaborator users do not see Brand Listening. It is account-wide research with one shared archive and shared limits, so it is available to account owners and managers. Ask the account owner to run the search, or to open the report for you.

  • I see a Request access page instead of the search box
Brand Listening comes with paid plans while it is in beta. Click Request access so we know you want in, then either upgrade (see the pricing page) or click Talk to us and our team can enable it on your account.

  • "You have used all 3 free brand searches"
You already track 3 brands. Open a report you no longer need, open the ⋯ menu and click Remove brand, then search the new one.

  • "… has used its free checks"
That brand has used its initial search and 3 refreshes. Its report stays available with everything found so far, but it will not refresh again during the beta.

  • "The research run failed"
Something went wrong on our side or on a platform's side. Search the same brand again to retry. Failed runs do not count against your checks.

  • The report is about the wrong brand
A brand name alone can match a different company with the same name. Remove the brand and search again using the brand's website (for example airbnb.com), which anchors the research to the right company. Open How we searched to confirm the subreddits, handles and hashtags it picked.

  • Very few mentions, or a platform I expected is missing
The report is a sample of recent on-brand posts, and the research only searches platforms where it found real conversation for that brand. The count grows with every check. If people talk about your brand somewhere Juicer did not look, type it into the Are we missing places where people talk about your brand or competitors? box and click Suggest this place.

If a search keeps failing or a report clearly picked the wrong company, contact us with the exact brand name or website you entered and the account email you are logged in with, and we'll take a look.
